Presented in association with

AccessMusic is a series that aims to provide talented emerging musicians with a space to share original scores and songwriting with those who relate to music as essential and energizing. The ambience is relaxed, intimate, so that the musical connect is immediate, meaningful and inclusive. Presented in collaboration with Unwind Centre, this series which is all about access to and through music, places creativity and musical prowess centre stage even while recognizing the power of the arts as a critical enabler, to foster inclusion and reflection to change hearts and minds.

A team of six young musicians, collectively known as Spaghetts, faced the challenge of naming their band before an upcoming show. The frontman and founder, Sammie, stumbled upon the name "Spaghets" in a meme, and was specifically taken by the phrase 'Somebody toucha my spaghet.' Finding the name catchy and amusing, they embraced it, appreciating the bonus association with the word 'spaghetti' that sparked conversations about the band. The band's uniqueness is not only reflected in their name but also in their musical style, as they refuse to confine themselves to a single genre, exploring Indie Pop, RnB, Indie Rock, and Blues.

Sammie, Juan, and Joseph, the founding members, shared a common musical vision. Skandha, a guitarist who met Sammie at a concert, joined the group. As the band evolved, Shreya and Jaswanth, college friends of existing members, joined as well.

The band's upcoming gig promises a diverse musical experience, including songs from Sammie's album, covers, and their original track "Kill Me Twice''. Guitarist Skandha Jay expresses excitement about the band's freedom to experiment with different genres, drawing inspiration from artists like The Lumineers, Hozier, John Mayer, and Peter Cat Recording Co. While Sammie works on his album featuring the unreleased original "Pink and Orange Skies," Skandha is preparing for the release of his debut single in January 2024.

About the Nami Island Arts & Education Company:

Nami Island Arts & Education, a company that conducts various international exchanges, cultural projects and educational projects is based on Nami Island, a representative tourist destination in Korea. Nami Island's connection with India and its culture began almost two decades ago with the 2005 exhibition of picture book illustrations by A. Ramachandran. This was followed by an exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi, India's great spiritual leader in 2010 and a painting exhibition in 2013 with the Indian poet Tagore's 'Gitanjali' as its central motif. Since Korea and India established a “special strategic partnership” in 2015, “Sarang: The Festival of India-Nami Island” has been held annually in cooperation with the Indian Embassy and the Indian Cultural Center in Korea. Every year, Nami Island transforms into a cultural hub where visitors from home and abroad can experience the vibrant and captivating Indian culture through diverse performances, exhibitions and other hands-on experiences.
