Let’s Talk Art: Workshop

InKo Centre, in collaboration with Madras Art Weekend, is delighted to present an engaging workshop with Sara Vetteth, founder of RainbowFish Studio and author of Shilpa Gupta’s Everyday Art a book recently published by Tulika on 14 September 2025 which introduces young audiences to one of India’s most acclaimed contemporary artists.

This interactive session explores how art can be understood beyond conventional forms — through sound, text performance and installation — inviting participants to experience the many ways artists interpret the world around them. Ms. Vetteth will guide participants through key concepts from her book, encouraging open discussion and creative reflection inspired by Shilpa Gupta’s multidisciplinary practice.

Each participant will receive a complimentary copy of the book as part of the session. The workshop is open to 20 participants and is suitable for students, art educators and those keen to explore contemporary Indian art in a hands-on, accessible format.

The Festival becomes a space where history is not preserved in silence, but reinterpreted, remixed and projected forward- bridging the timeless spirit of the city with bold, contemporary expressions of art and design.

About Madras Art Weekend:

Madras Art Weekend is a collaborative initiative that brings together an entire art fraternity on a single platform. Hosted by some of the most prominent and leading contemporary art galleries in the city, MAW aims to explore the vast potential of emerging and established artists.

The focus is to create a synergy, dialogue, interaction and a platform that is relevant, experiential and sensorial. From art talks by prominent artists to avid collectors opening up their homes to curious admirers, from galleries engaging with various art professionals to the very best of creative workshops, the endeavour is to bring together several art and design enthusiasts, broaden the reach and relevance of contemporary art and to reinvent and rediscover the narrative on the city’s artscape. This event seeks to be an annual legacy for Chennai, with the collaborative participation of key players in the contemporary art scene and cultural organisations showcased against the backdrop of this heritage city.

The theme for the 4th edition of Madras Art Weekend is Madras Reimagined: Rooted in our city’s unique cultural identity, the theme invites artists, architects, designers and thinkers to reinterpret the familiar - its heritage landmarks, everyday rituals and its living traditions. Celebrating our shared legacy and preserving it through a futuristic lens.
