Between Senses and Self: Tracing the Inner Landscapes

all that remains

Presented by

Inko_logo AISC_img

The exhibition Between Senses and Self brings together six young artists, all students of Class Ten, whose works navigate the unseen terrains of perception, identity and emotional interiority

For some, the journey begins with deeply rooted inquiries - synesthesia as a fusion of senses, identity as a continuum of becoming and the mind’s struggles as shifting psychological geographies. Others enter the space through open pathways, responding intuitively to material, memory and sensation. This exhibition honours that unfolding. It maps the diverse ways in which young artists construct meaning by looking inward, pushing boundaries of perception and giving visual language to experiences that are often felt but rarely articulated. Together, their works create a shared inner landscape - one that is layered, vulnerable and continually in flux.

Curatorial Note

This exhibition brings together six student artists whose works emerge from the complex terrain of inner experience. While some artists begin with clearly articulated inquiries—synesthesia as a merging of the senses, identity as a process of becoming and the struggles of the mind as psychological negotiation—others arrive through intuition, material exploration and emotional response. What unites them is a shared impulse to translate what is unseen, felt and internal into visual form.

As these young artists navigate perception, memory and emotion, their works shift between abstraction and representation, control and fluidity, structure and vulnerability. Colour becomes sensation, form becomes emotion and material becomes a conduit for personal narrative. Rather than offering fixed conclusions, the works exist in a state of flux, mirroring the evolving nature of the self and the mind.

This exhibition is not about uniformity of theme, but about resonance. It invites viewers into a shared inner landscape—layered, fragile and deeply human—where individual voices intersect to form a collective exploration of how we sense, experience and understand ourselves.

Your Symptoms

Your Symptoms directly addresses the identity crisis and social issues faced by modern individuals, expanding the boundaries of perception and sensation. Today, people live with unnamed emotions—loneliness, sorrow, anxiety, psychological wounds and a lack of love. Yet they conceal their inner pain behind expressionless faces, rarely revealing their emotional scars to the outside world. This work intricately expresses the loneliness and emotional unease of modern individuals and, through a deep exploration of universal human sentiments, proposes a fresh mode of contemporary stage expression that encourages expanded reflection and thought. Audiences expand personal experiences into universal emotions, sharing a complex experience through physical movement and the structural experimentation of dance. Through Your Symptoms, audience members are invited to observe their unresolved emotions, break free from a social structure that inhibits emotional expression and enter their own symptoms with both sincerity and playfulness.

Flight

We experience countless successes and failures to achieve our goals. Sometimes we fall and other times we exhaust ourselves trying to succeed. Through this leap and jump, Flight depicts how we take off to achieve our goals. The flying motion completed by the two illustrates the moment human beings overcome their own physical confinement.

Since then, the company has been seeking to expand its presence not only in Korea but also on international stages.
